Yet again we find another member of the “pro-family”, “pro-marriage”, “oh my god, did I mention we fucking love marriage so much and it’s the best thing ever?” Republican party admitting to cheating on his wife. What makes it even better is that this time around it was Republican Sen. John Ensign.
Maybe you don’t remember that name. You probably don’t – he’s not really a big deal. However, here’s some quotes from his past…
(On Gay marriage) “Marriage recognizes the ideal of a father and mother living together to raise their children,” Ensign said. “Marriage is the cornerstone on which our society was founded. For those who say that the Constitution is so sacred that we cannot or should not adopt the Federal Marriage Amendment, I would simply point out that marriage, and the sanctity of that institution, predates the American Constitution and the founding of our nation. Marriage, as a social institution, predates every other institution on which ordered society in America has relied.”
Oh.. really? So sacred that while you were married you were fucking another woman who was also married. Interesting approach.
Then there’s this tidbit about Bill Clinton after he had an affair:
“He has no credibility left”
Yes, the man who once referred to Bill Clinton as a “disgrace” for having an affair, followed up by… having an affair of his own.
Now, don’t get me wrong – I’m sure plenty of Democrats in Washington have had affairs.
But – they’re not the party that runs around trying to monopolize family values and morality, while incessantly harping on the “sanctity” of marriage.
