Educate Yourself: “Why Evolution Is True” by Jerry Coyne

This week’s lecture is called “Why Evolution Is True” by Jerry Coyne, who is a professor of biology at the University of Chicago in the Department of Ecology and Evolution and the author of the blog and book of the same name. As he states early on, this isn’t just full of creationist bashing – he explains the science behind evolution in very simple and easy-to-understand terms (you know, for creationists who thrive on simplicity). Some of it may seem like very basic stuff, especially to those Brits who are way ahead of us on this, but then you see the popularity of someone like Sarah Palin, who freely admits that the talking snake seems more logical than proven research, and you realize that we’ve got a looooong way to go.
