Fox Gets Caught Manipulating Footage by The Daily Show, Yet Ratings Still Soar

It didn’t surprise me when the Daily Show caught Sean Hannity passing off Glenn Beck’s 9/12 rally footage from two months ago as recent footage from Michele Bachman’s health care protest the other day…
What did shock me, however, was that Sean Hannity and Fox News acknowledged it and apologized…
Sure, it was a half-assed apology that included a sarcastic remark, but still, just to see that arrogant prick swallow his pride, even for a brief moment, was well worth it…although I didn’t suffer through the whole show to see it, as Stewart did. It does make me wonder, though – if we didn’t have the Daily Show and the Colbert Report keeping tabs on these guys, who would? Media Matters, Huffpo, Crooks and Liars, TPM, and Daily Kos all do a great job, of course, but Fox is quick to write off anything they say as “liberal propaganda,” and their idiotic viewers do as well. But having these guys on Comedy Central gives them the edge because they’re not only reaching a wider audience, but an audience that wouldn’t normally follow such things. The “news coverage” on Fox is so comical that it might as well share a time slot with South Park or Futurama, but without real comedians to point that out, you have to wonder how many of those 2.25 million people watching wouldn’t question the accuracy of the information they’re being fed. If Fox is ballsy enough to edit together a rally on a clear bright day and a protest on a cloudy fall day and try to pass them off as one in the same, then simply write it off as an “error” and not a blatant misrepresentation of the facts, then you have to be ignorant or just plain stupid to tune in every week and receive your news from these assholes…which is why they continue to dominate the cable news ratings, of course. Only in America can you call this news to begin with…
