Introducing Twitter Tuesdays

in Twitter Tuesday

As Muckmakers becomes more popular and we continue to grow, we’d like to start interacting more with our fans and regular readers. We’ve been starting to see more frequent comments here and there, but the most interaction we get comes from our social networking and news connections like Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter. While we were hesitant to join at first, Twitter has actually been pretty good to us, so in an effort to better connect with our fellow Tweeters, we’re going to start Twitter Tuesdays, where we feature some of our favorite comments sent to our Twitter page.

Sure thing! I came to twitted recently and it was hard finding interesting things to follow, but you stood out. – 4:46 PM Apr 21st

We certainly try. It may be the writing style, or it may be the satirical comic about a priest molesting an altar boy on our right-hand menu. I haven’t figured out which yet.

Muckraking has been around since the foundations of journalism, but it’s certainly become a hell of a lot easier with the advent of the internet. There’s almost no excuse today to not be informed of the misdeeds and corruption of politicians, organized religion, and other enemies of truth.

This is actually what we’d like to see more of – people doing our work for us! It’s not that we’re lazy, but we simply don’t have the time to cover every story of injustice in this unjust world, so send us your links and/or commentary! I have to agree with Drew’s sentiments here – once a drug dealing scumbag, always a drug dealing scumbag. An officer randomly patting down a known criminal isn’t violating his rights – it’s assuming the obvious. People can change, sure, but they rarely do, and once you have violated the law, you don’t gain public trust simply by getting out of jail with the help of a good lawyer.

Congratulations on the ultra hot, steamy tea bagger action! – about 13 hours ago

It’s definitely getting hot and steamy up in here. Somebody submitted my article on the teabagger “movement” (A True Patriot of the Tea Bag Movement) recently to StumbleUpon and it’s been bringing in some fun comments from all sides, despite the article being over a month old now. Check out the running commentary if you’re looking for a good laugh. The same thing happened to my article about Rush Limbaugh listeners (How to Use Digg and Reddit to Piss Off Rush Limbaugh Listeners), so whoever is submitting our stuff to StumbleUpon, we appreciate your sexy link lovin’…or something. I would be remiss if I didn’t also thank Holly here, who tweets to us on a pretty regular basis to remind us to update and include more feminism in our posts, so check out her blog for much more frequent muckraking with a lot less testosterone.

That’s all for now…if you haven’t followed us yet, please add us to receive all our latest updates, along with updates from several other relevant blogs in the same vein (such as Crooks and Liars). And if you see a story that fits our theme that you’d like us to write about, feel free to send it along. So is Twitter Tuesday worthwhile? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.

Twitter Tuesday is definitely worthwhile… especially if you continue to plug me!
