I guess I should start this brief introduction with the caveat that I am not one of these die-hard Ron Paul internet supporters who thinks this guy is some sort of political savior or that every one of his positions is completely logically sound. (I hold similar opinions on Obama, for the record.) However, the man has some said some very purty words for a Republican representative of Texas, and many of those words are both ballsy and absolutely true. In fact, when he’s right, he’s so dead fucking right that you really have to do a double-take and wonder how such honest words actually left a politician’s mouth without him being immediately burned at the stake by his colleagues for heresy. In February, Paul addressed the House with this out-of-left-field speech that actually makes you want to watch C-SPAN every once and a while. Someone added some awesome animation to his speech soon after, breathing life into his words with some creative typography, but the video was suddenly deleted from YouTube recently. Fortunately, someone else has re-uploaded it, so give it a watch before the douchebags-that-be on YouTube remove it for copyright infringement or some such nonsense…
And if you want a no-frills version, you can watch the original speech here or just read the transcript here.

It’s so weird. Paul makes perfect sense on this, but his contempt for the establishment clause of the first amendment, his hatred of anyone who isn’t simultaneously heterosexual, white, and male, his gun extremism, his clinging to failed libertarian economic policies, and his lack of understanding society’s responsibility to the poor and the elderly show a highly irrational side to Paul.
